Tattoo TV

When i played in a hardcore band I watched a small scene grow and witnessed those in the underground moan, "oh, if only more people came to shows." Well guess what, Hardcore boomed and those same people were soon the ones saying, "Where'd all these posers come from, remember the old days when it was "real"." Well a similar story fits to tattooing.

The tattoo subculture is already in cruise mode down the highway of social acceptance. It seems though that as the scale tips towards popularity, the media world is right there to balance it out with another reason for the tattoo world to be pissed off. I'm not saying they shouldn't be. It began with Miami Ink, then LA ink, New york ink, London ink and who knows how many other city Inks we havent heard of..

While these shows give a very incorrect view as to what it's like stepping into a tattoo shop and what goes on there, they did create a slightly more mature general public when it comes to the type of work that people were wanting to get tattooed.

It seems now that The Learning Channel that brought the world most of the above mentioned shows has taken it too far and is soon releasing a show that follows a "tattoo school" a two week training school that shouldn't exist. Im not here to rant about the show. There's enough of that, rather to let you know that there are a crap load of decent shows and interviews out there for you to check out.

So stay posi and support these dudes that are trying to hook you up with a better, truer representation of what's happening in the big tattoo world.
